How I Stay Tan in the Winter

Hi guys! I hope you are all having a good start to your week. Right now I am sitting in my office watching a snowfall outside. It really feels like winter lately and the snow is so pretty!

Given the snow, I thought today would be the perfect day to write a post about how I stay tan in the winter. There are a ton of fake-tanning products on the market but the majority are not cruelty-free. I just want to note that the products I am mentioning today are cruelty-free, which I am so happy about!

By this time of year, any mild tan I may have had in August is long gone and I am back to being pasty. There is nothing wrong with pale skin of course, but like many people, I feel more confident when I have a nice bronze glow. I find that for me, having a tan makes all my clothes and jewelry pop and compliments my dark hair nicely!

I have tried quite a few brands of fake tan and I can honestly say Loving Tan is 100% the best. I use the shade dark, and I don’t know how they do it, but the colour it gives looks really natural. I have never experienced any orange-ness using their products, and you can see how it looks in my before and after photos below.

The first step is to use the exfoliating glove (which despite working extremely well to remove dead skin and old tan, is surprisingly gentle).

Then, I like to apply moisturizer to my ankles, toes, knees, elbows, wrists and hands, to prevent the colour from being darker in those areas due to dry skin. After that, I start applying the mousse. I use the Loving Tan mitt to apply it (which is the softest tanning mitt I have come across) and use a circular motion to blend. If you guys are interested in trying out one of the Loving Tan mousses, you can use the code itslivb to get the applicator mitt for free!

I use about 2 pumps of mousse on my calves, 2 on my thighs, 2 on my stomach, 1 on my chest, and 2-3 on each arm and shoulder. Then, I use whatever is left over on the mitt to do my feet, hands and neck. I usually get my boyfriend to do my back, although Loving Tan does sell a back applicator for those of you who want to do it yourself! It dries in a minute or two, and then I just throw on some loose clothing. So far, I have not noticed any tan colour get on my clothes.

Also, super important to note: there is barely a smell with this mousse which I LOVE. I am really sensitive to scents and this doesn’t bother me at all. A slight fake-tan scent starts to develop after a couple hours, but its really minimal. After waiting the recommended amount of time (2 hours for the express mousse and 6 for the regular) I just rinse off and pat my body dry. If I am going out I like to use the bronze shimmer cream to add a bit of extra colour and shimmer. This is optional, and the tan looks great without it, but I love the shimmer for a night out!

I hope this was helpful to you guys! I am so happy with these products and I think a lot of you would enjoy them as well! If you are going to try out the mousse, I definitely recommend getting the mitt to apply it so you  don’t stain your hands. Like I mentioned above, you can use the code itslivb to get the mitt for free with your mousse purchase!

Thank you Loving Tan for sending me the products to model in this post. They’re beauties 😉
