This burger recipe has a simple set of ingredients, but are still packed with flavour.  The best part  is that the sweet and spicy soy curls contrast the cheesy pepperjack sauce so well.

The best thing about these BBQ Pepperjack Soy Curl Burgers (apart from how tasty they are) is how quick and easy they are. Making the soy curls is SO easy, as outlined in this post. Then, just add them to a burger, slather on the sauce and dig in. Sometimes the key is just keeping it simple, and if the ingredients are delicious, there is no way you won’t enjoy this meal!

Simply soak the soy curls in broth, and while they soak, mix up the sauce. Its sweet, tangy, garlicky, spicy and soooo addicting. Then, fry the soy curls in a frying pan, add the sauce, and cook until lightly browned. The cheese sauce is just a simple one that involved melting a vegan pepper jack (we get ours from Real Fake Meats) with some nondairy milk and spices, until gooey and pourable. And to take it up a level, serve it on a fresh pretzel bun. We get ours at a local place called Pete’s and love that they have vegan pretzel buns. But, if you can’t find fresh vegan pretzel buns, use any other burger bun.

BBQ Pepperjack Soy Curl Burger

Description

Spicy and sweet BBQ soy curls on a savoury pretzel bun, dripping with dairy-free pepper jack cheese sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 batch soy curls
  • 1 1/2 cup of favourite vegan cheese (I used @realfakemeats of course)
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1/4 cup dairy-free milk
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 vegan pretzel buns

Instructions

  1. Cook soy curls according to instructions in link.
  2. In a medium sized pot, add cheese block, pepper, basil and milk over medium heat and whisk, about 5 minutes, until liquid and desired consistency.
  3. On a fresh pretzel bun, add cooked BBQ soy curls, and cheese sauce.
