We all know fries are a vegan’s best friend, right? We’re forever grateful for that greasy basket of fries late at night after the bars close down, or on vacation when everyone decides to go to steak house leaving our options VERY limited. Sure, we would almost always rather something else when you’re at that level of hungry, but at the end of the day we are forever grateful for what French fries do for us when we’re in a pinch! Well, who’s to say that friend couldn’t use an upgrade from time to time?

These Vegan Sweet Heat Buffalo Ranch Loaded Fries are exactly what you’ve been missing! This air fried basket of fries is loaded with sweet and spicy buffalo flavoured soy curls, assorted spices and ranch mayo. Careful taking that first bite because you won’t be able to stop once you start!

Why mess with something good?

There’s a simple answer to that, which is that I can! It’s my job to take the ordinary everyday dishes we all know and love, no matter how universally cherished they are, and see if I can take them up a notch! And let me tell you, these Vegan Sweet Heat Buffalo Ranch Loaded Fries do just that.

The perfect balance of sweet maple and Liv’s famous home-made buffalo sauce is what makes this truly unique dish. If spice really isn’t your thing, the ranch mayo does a great job of cutting out most of the heat while keeping the awesome flavour! Not only that, but adding the right protein to top this dish was key to keeping you satisfied and full for longer. We all know the problem with French fries as a meal is that you’re back to being hungry again within the hour, unless you get something more substantial in you before then.

Soy curls are the PERFECT thing for a dish like this! Super simple to prepare, they take on the flavour of anything you toss them in extremely well! In my opinion, these have the closest texture to real chicken and it’s flavour than any alternative I’ve come across yet. Not only that, but they’re loaded with protein as well to keep you full for hours to come!

How they’re made:

Don’t worry, as good as these look – I’ve made it about as quick and easy as you can possibly imagine! When it comes to fries, I’m a big believer in not over complicating things. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE homemade handcut fries as much as the next guy, but if saving time and effort in the kitchen is valuable to you, there’s no shame in using your favourite store bought frozen French fries to get the job done. Throw them in the air fryer and 10 minutes later you’ve got a perfectly cooked plate of fries!

Next is the sweet heat sauce for these Vegan Sweet Heat Buffalo Ranch Loaded Fries. Simple barely begins to describe this one! All you have to do is take a small jar, add in the few sauce ingredients including maple syrup, franks red hot, garlic powder and melted butter. Shake it up and there you have it! Do the same with the mayo and you’re on your way to your all-time favourite loaded French fry recipe!

Lastly, all you have left to do is quickly soak and strain the soy curls and fry them up with the sauce. If you’ve timed it perfectly, you’ll have a steaming crispy pile of fries coming out of the air fryer, ready to be loaded with as much topping as you like!

  1. These look delicious! I can’t find soy curls anywhere in the city. Do you order them online, or get them locally? Thanks!

  2. What can you substitute the curls with? Don’t have them in my small area 😞
