I’m about to make your week with the absolute easiest vegan garlic bread recipe I’ve come up with yet! But not just easy… It’s also the quickest, butteriest, and thickest garlic toast recipe I’ve come up with. Save time AND money when it comes to this easy 15 minute thick cut garlic bread recipe. I use thickly sliced white bread, homemade garlic butter, and air fry the toast to perfection.
This side dish is easily one of my fall go-to favourites. Not only is it saving me time in an otherwise busy season, it’s also the perfect pairing for all the comforting fall dishes you love making. I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up and my parents couldn’t spare much time to make dinner. Spaghetti and garlic bread were a staple!
Granted, it was usually store-bought garlic bread with a mountain of cheese added to it… BUT ever since turning to vegan cheese, and from the moment I had an inkling that I liked to create my own food – I took it upon myself to come up with the PERFECT garlic bread recipe. So here we are, nearly at perfection (there’s always room to improve). But if you ask me and anyone who’s tried this dairy-free Vegan Thick Cut 15 Minute Garlic Bread with vegan parmesan cheese, it is the perfect pairing to this weeks pasta dishes.

Is it really different from regular garlic bread?
Yes, and no! To me, I love picking out the small nuances in what is “traditional cooking”. That means trying to pick out the things people consider commonplace among their favourite dishes. I have been doing this as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until recently that I’ve taken it upon myself to really try and challenge those beliefs or traditions. Of course, there will always be a place for tradition, and it should be celebrated. But one of the great things about cooking is finding an outlet for your creativity. And you might be thinking, “this already seems a little dramatic… aren’t we talking about garlic bread”? Well, yes. BUT, the best part about the simplest dishes, is often how easily they can be transformed into something better with the smallest changes to simple ingredients, method or preparation!
For this Vegan Thick Cut 15 Minute Garlic Bread specifically, that means taking a loaf of bread, cutting it extra thick AND cutting down the cooking time by air frying for less than 15 minutes! If you’re thinking to yourself now, “weeknight dinner game-changer”! then you’re finally all caught up! Like it says in the description – cutting each slice to be minimum twice as thick as traditional garlic bread, soaked in butter and then air frying allows for a perfectly crispy golden brown exterior, and a soft and buttery inside.
How do you make a vegan version of garlic bread at home?
If you’re like me, then saving as much time in the kitchen without sacrificing taste is what we’re all looking for. This hits the nail on the head when it comes to efficiency and taste. Don’t lie… everyone enjoys a good slice of garlic bread from time to time, so let me show you how it’s done.
Can vegans eat all breads?
…. ALWAYS CHECK THE LABELS for ingredients that are not vegan. I’m finding that more and more breads do not use egg or milk, but to be on the safe side – I love using sourdough or a baguette as my dairy-free option. First things first, slice that bread to perfection! That means nothing less than 2-2.5 Inches wide. This is important for all the reasons above. But if you want to take it up a notch further, make sure you get a fresh loaf of bread either homemade OR from your local bakery!
How do you make vegan garlic butter for bread?
… Next is, you guessed it…. Drown it in garlic butter! Always opt for the fresh minced garlic cloves or roasted garlic rather than from a jar (it tastes way more fresh). simply microwave or melt down the vegan butter in a bowl with or flavorings such as a tsp salt, basil, a tbsp or so of oregano, or even parsley and red pepper flakes if you are feeling extra adventurous.
How long does garlic bread take to make?
… Lastly, pop it in the air fryer for the best ration of crispy outside to soft inside. But don’t worry, I’ll leave oven instructions below in case you don’t have access to an air fryer! estimate anywhere from 10-15 minutes to bake or fry should do it. no need to wrap in aluminum foil, parchment paper or long prep time with this recipe. Total time from start to finish is about. 15 minutes.
And as always, if you want even more options for cold weather side dishes – try these Everything Bagel Air Fried Potatoes, or this vegan Copycat Little Caesar’s Crazy Bread.
